Town Madison developer Louis Breland and his development partners broke ground today on a new apartment complex planned for the big mixed-use development under way on Interstate 565 in Madison.

The project is called The Station at Town Madison and will have 274 units. It’s expected to be ready for leasing in summer 2019.

Tynes Development Corp. and a “BL Harbert related partnership” called B&J, LLC are developing the complex. The partnership has already completed 12 projects elsewhere including The Retreat at Greystone in Birmingham and the Station at Poplar Tent in Charlotte, N.C., developers said.

The Atlanta architectural firm of Pucciano and English is designing the mixture of 1,2 and 3 bedroom units with some carriage houses with garages.

“We really like the vision for Town Madison and believe this is an incredible site to develop the mixed use type of project our residents are looking for,” Tynes Development founder Ingram Tynes said in a statement.

“We looked around the country to find the best multifamily partner for Town Madison and Ingram Tynes and his team stood out among the best,” Breland said. “With the changing retail world, luxury apartments not only provide additional living options for our project they are also an important component in creating the live, work, play formula that makes major mixed use developments like Town Madison successful.”

Town Madison is a 530-acre development in Madison that will include a new minor league baseball stadium, 700,000 square feet of office space and 700 new hotel rooms, developers and Madison officials say. Work has also begun on 300 single-family homes and retail and office space.
